car is dead. It’s official. I think I actually found out after I posted on Monday, but I’ve been busy with gigs and car-shopping and such.
The gig on Monday was fun; short set but a good time. Got another gig at Ralph’s on Thursday, hopefully I can drag some people in this time.
Went to the Helping Hands of America car lot today… found one interesting wagon there. I’ve got a high bid on an auction on eBay for a 95 Olds wagon and there’s also an 88 at a dealer down the street that I haven’t checked out yet. I’ll probably do that tomorrow with Dad. I’m hoping to win the auction though… I know how much the guy really wants for it because I called him, but the price (and my current bid) really isn’t anywhere near that… so I hope he doesn’t pull the auction. Talked to another guy on the phone about an 87 in N Quincy, I think he’ll be the fallback.
Still waiting to find out if the car is dead…
Moved a lot of the new Roomies stuff in yesterday,
they had one pick-up truck, one minivan and one
station wagon full of stuff, and they somehow fit it
all in here.
Lots of furniture was added… the more funrniture
you add to this place, the more crooked it looks.
Gig tonight! some sort of benefit for Stroke victims
that is being lovingly referred to as the Stroke-a-Thon
I find myself looking forward to work more, now that
I’m on the side with the older kids and Jen and Jill
and Becky. I like working with them, they’re fun.
There were actually people at the gig @ Ralph’s.
I was kinda worried after hearing no one was there for the shows
the previous weekend, but it was ok, decent crowd. Good time.
There is bad news though.
Yesterday after work, I was heading to Bedford to get those
pictures of the house when the engine in the wagon started
making the most awful noises… we fear the worst, but I have
not heard yet, officially.
So I’m driving the van, which is handy, because i just helped Mark
move the rest of his stuff out of Woonsocket and filled the van with
all the big trash like mattresses and broken microwaves and such.
I’m hungry, but broke… gotta look into getting my 401k money back
Pictures got cancelled Tuesday: raining.
outdoor pictures of a house you’re trying to sell on a miserable day aren’t a good idea, I guess.
Got a last minute gig tonight at Ralph’s with Snakes & Ladders.
So, now I’ve got a car full of expensive gear that’s way too easy to break in to that I’ll
be worrying about all day… at least until I have to unload it all at the end of the night.
I’m extremely broke/in debt
yet I bought $50 worth of cables so that I could play the show tonight…
hmm…
priorities?
denial?
The Bedford photos have been rescheduled to Friday, so perhaps I can switch with Dad and
get the Van after we’re done taking photos. I’m almost looking forward to helping Mark get
the rest of his shit out and the girls get their shit in… this living semi-alone stuff isn’t really
enjoyable or affordable.
And now off to work, which has been enjoyable over with the older kids.
tomorrow, I move over to the older kids’ side of the After-School Day Care.
It should be interesting. It will definitely be different.
Jen & Kris have moved some of their stuff in, they have a little bit of cleaning and painting to do and then it’s all moving. I figure I’ll borrow the van this weekend and we’ll get some of their stuff in and some of the junk/Mark’s stuff out. I’ll have to get the van on thursday of friday…
Wednesday, we’re playing the Wormtown Wednesday and tomorrow, I’m supposed to zip off to Bedford to get some more pictures.
back home again, finally.
While I was getting stuff out of the car, last night, I managed to lock my keys in… before I had unlocked the door to the house. So I found out just how easy it is to break into my car through the Lexan back window. Needless to say, I had to empty my car of anything worth stealing and bring up the stairs into the apartment. That was not fun. But that was hours ago and I’ve had some good sleep since then.
I’m getting ready to head to my parents’ house again, this time to see some of the family… sort of a split event between Easter and my Grandfather’s birthday (which was Tuesday).
Now that the weekend is coming to a close, I find myself in a mood to summarize my favorite parts:
Friday:
-playing Moonstruck again, and seeing Becky, even though it was sort of brief
-making my computer from 5 years ago almost as fast as my computer today, with about $200 worth of hardware.
Saturday:
-finding out that Sands might live across the street from Duncan
(they look so much alike – they are gradually becoming one person).
-hearing Shana play/sing all her great songs.
-our hilarious after-show dinner at Java Hut
holy crap. I just finished upgrading Dad’s computer…
Now I will attempt to get more than a few hours of sleep before tomorrow.
(when I don’t have to work an 8 hour day with wacked out kids… yay!)
This sleep pattern and the number of hours in front of a computer feels very familiar, though…
sorta like college all over again.
holy crap. I just finished setting up Mark’s computer…
Now I will attempt to get a few hours of sleep before the second extremely long day.
ahhh, morning on the first of the very long days…
how long might they be?
today, I got up too early, probably because the neighbors kids are home and running around the house. Can’t she sign them up for a YMCA program or something? Once I find some clean clothes, I’ll be heading off to work my 8-hour day at the Y. At some point during the day I will be getting in touch with Mark to see when/where we’re getting together. Chances are he will come here this evening around 6.30 and bring his computer up. We will either start working on it then, or simply head out to our gig in New Bedford… I have no idea how late this gig is going to go, but I will most likely be coming back here with Mark in tow, to finish off his computer migration.
tomorrow, will be mostly the same… depending on whether we finish Mark’s computer tonight, I may have some migration or packing up to do. Then an 8-hour day of work and then off to a gig in Charlton, after which I will probably go to my parents’ house. I will probably not be able to resist finishing Dad’s computer upgrade that night, but if I’m completely beat, it might wait until Saturday morning.
Saturday will be filled with computers and then another gig at night… perhaps some laundry action, as well.

Work-day was long… but I enjoy my job. Working the full days over this school vacation really makes me look forward to the Summer Camp. It’s tiring but very good work. Realized again today that I am working this job for entirely different reasons than most of my co-workers… found myself wishing that the Youth Center / Art Space dream was a reality. Being a plain old counselor after being an activity director is hard enough… but with my aspirations realized, reaching them seems more and more appealing
So I didn’t add any photos to my site yesterday, but photoSIG is back up, or so it seems… so I should really add the links to that page and this page and…. my new calendar-thingy. After I update the site, I’ll dig through my old pics and my pics of the kids from this week to see if any are psig worthy.
Considered going to my parents house tonight, to finish the upgrade of Dad’s computer, but decided I’d save the gas and go on Friday, since I’ll be in Charlton, anyway for the Brands gig. Once I decided I wasn’t going to Dudley, deciding not to go to the Wormtown Wednesday quickly followed… another good night of sleep would be good after a long day, with two very long days coming up.
