reuniting

so I had a couple friends from high school over here last night and they stayed over and hung out most of the morning… and a good part of the afternoon, as well. Needless to say, we had a great time. we all laughed quite a bit, told stories and caught up, looked at pictures from my closet, ate some pizza, played scrabble, played Apples to Apples, watched a movie, turned the movie off because it was boring, sat around in the dark, took some pictures, slept, went out to breakfast, wandered in the park down the street, sat on the swings, laid on the benches… and then they went home.

Of course, I feel like a total pimp because they paired off with each of my roommates overnight. That’s ok, though. It was adorable. I guess a more normal person might’ve been jealous or something, but I was perfectly happy to curl up in my bed alone, knowing that everyone else was happy. Apparently, according to everyone I’ve talked to, that makes me extremely weird. I already knew that, though. That doesn’t change the fact that I feel like a pimp, though. I don’t know why they say “pimpin’ ain’t easy.” All I did was give the girls my address and some directions and provide some food and some scrabble… my roommates really did the rest :)

(Disclaimer: it was totally by chance that I invited these girls over and they ended up not sleeping with me. There was no discussion about staying over or pimping before-hand and there was no money exchanged, except to the pizza guy. I did not try to “set up” my roommates and would’ve been perfectly happy to cuddle up to one of these lovely ladies myself, but that’s not the way things went.)

disturbing

can you believe this kid is playing his gameboy at a baseball game?

just can't decide

As I sit here and watch Mike and Ed, two guys who I know to be good players and bandmates, play with my bandmate Steve… I can’t help but wonder why they would get up there and butcher a bunch of songs… some songs written by Mike and some covers – all done sort of half-assed. Why? I mean, are they drunk? I know Steve isn’t. They’re not bad songs, Mike’s a decent songwriter and I know Steve is fairly familiar with these songs, because e recorded a bunch of Mike’s stuff… but, really, this sucks. I’ve decided.

when days blur together

A number of the last few days blurred together… if I happened to come in contact with you during those days and acted like a zombie, I apologize. If I bit you, please let me know, and I'll do something special for you to make it up to you.

In other news. I think I gained a hard drive today by messing around with a couple old ones with knoppix… one is still beyond my recovery means, but the other looks pretty good and is 120G. Now I have to decide if I want to put it in one of my roommate's machines or in an external enclosure. I also stole the over-monitor-shelf from his room, since he was using it on top of a milkcrate… which is clearly already flat. So I moved my printer up on top of my monitor, freeing up some nice desk-space. This prompted me to clean that half of my desk, where i found some rent envelopes and two SM cards for my camera. Woot!

I moved the webcam… it actually moved quite a bit this weekend, but I think it's in its new home for the time being, so check out the extrememly similar yet somewhat different angle, if you haven't already. I'm still on the quest to find some more efficient webcam software. I'd really rather have the thing only take pictures when someone is viewing it, instead of every minute or when it detects motion. I assume this would take some rather CPU intensive program or one of these wacked out base stations with the software built in.

Going back and reading the weekend's posts, I realized that I mentioned my roommates by name a couple times and I haven't ever properly introduced them. I'll have to take some pictures and then do a "meet my roommates" post.

my shift is over

the caffeine wore off hours ago
the band from chicago is coming back tonight
drew and tim are both at work
drew should be home soon, though, I assume
I wanted to stay up until the band got back here, or called so they could find their way back, but I can stay awake no longer… yesterday and today are all blurring into one, details are becoming confused with stories I made up and possibly dreamed or day-dreamed

I now head off to bed… but I'll keep the phones close by

housing a band from Chicago

So, a band from Chicago stayed at my house last night, they were one of the bands that we split our gig with last night (not the one the kinda sucked). Few really nice guys who we dorked out with for a while until we all finally started crashing at around 3am. Getting to work this morning sort of sucked… still having not slept much sort of sucks… using my computer in the kitchen because I don't want to wake the band up… isn't that bad. I kinda like it actually; break from the routine – yay for wireless internet.

One of the guys here is a minesweeper addict and I told him about the dual-click trick. For those of you who play minesweeper and don't know: once a square with a number in it is touching the amount of flags it should be, you can both right-and-left-click it and it will clear any other blocks it's touching.

Waiting to get on stage

watching this band before we go on… they kind of suck.

Mmmm

My only guess is that this is some genius’ idea for using up all the materials and machinery to build mousetraps for something else… but no matter what this product is actually for, it makes me think of hamburgers made out of mice.
